Day 1 - KIRKENES
Arrive Kirkenes – The Arctic North next to the Arctic sea!

Self transfer and individual check-in at the Rica Hotel Arctic (or Kirkenes)

3 nights package incl. breakfast (Dinner is included at the cosy Gabba Restaurant on day 2)


“Kirkenes – the Arctic Experience”

Kirkenes is the most remote outpost in mainland Norway. About 400 km north of the Arctic Circle, the town of about 6,000 inhabitants is perched at the edge of the Varanger Fjord and the border with Russia! Discover the beauty of this north eastern corner of Lapland, combining exciting activities with a stay at the Kirkenes Snowhotel.


Day 2 KIRKENES SNOW HOTEL EXPERIENCE!

A famous SnowHotel mentioned in the “National Geographic” gives you an unforgettable experience. All SnowHotel overnighters will receive a “Coolest Certificate” – you only need to bring a small overnight bag – the rest of your luggage can stay safely at your hotel. What to wear for a night at the SnowHotel – most Norwegians wear wool during winter time so: long underwear, pullover, hat and socks are needed to sleep in.

18.00 Meet your guide and transfer together to the SnowHotel. Welcome to experience the incredible night in the Kirkenes SnowHotel. Upon arrival a “Welcome” drink is served in the SnowBar and then it is time to make the coolest check in!
During the evening you will enjoy a tasteful 3 course dinner by the fire – possible to say hello to the reindeers and huskies wandering in the park next to the SnowHotel.

Day 3 After a night spent in a sleeping bag in the SnowHotel, sauna is available for overnighters. Breakfast is served before transfer back to Rica Hotel Arctic (or Kirkenes) for overnight.

Day 4 KIRKENES – Good bye!
Tour ends after breakfast!

DREAMING OF A WHITE CHRISTMAS – Christmas eve at Kirkenes Snow Hotel

When you are staying a night in the Kirkenes Snowhotel on 24th of December – the evening will surely be different from what you are used to. During Christmas dinner, we will have a very special guest visiting us – the one and only Father Christmas. We will sing Christmas songs for him and as we all have been very nice this year, we will get a small Christmas present from Santa. The Reindeers outside give us the ultimate Christmas feeling.

ARCTIC NEW YEAR 2010 / 2011 – New Year Eve at Kirkenes Snowhotel!

When you are staying a night in the Kirkenes SnowHotel on December 31st, your evening will surely be different from what you are used to!

We will meet you in Kirkenes and transfer to the Snowhotel where you will be served a drink in the SnowBar followed by a visit of the Snowhotel. New Year Eve dinner is served by the fireplace and we cheer for the New Year and enjoy this evening together. Approximately at 22.00 hours transfer back to Kirkenes for those who are not staying overnight.

HUNTING THE NORTHERN LIGHTS – by Snowmobile

In the evening, your guide takes you to our snowmobile resort by car. After a short driving instruction we will start the most interesting trip by the snowmobiles. We drive in the arctic wilderness, and if we are lucky enough, we might see the most beautiful Northern Lights. 2 persons share 1 snowmobile. Protective clothing and helmet will be provided.

HUNTING THE NORTHERN LIGHTS – by Huskies
Eager Huskies will take you to the deeper wilderness. En route you will have several stops – perhaps you get to see the magical Northern Light? It is an amazing experience.
Wilderness evening meal is served in a hut at the end of the evening. 2 people will be sharing a sled.

ARCTIC STEPS IN THE WHITE SNOW
A guide will take you for a test of the snow shoes - a short lesson and GO! Take the snowshoes and head for the deep snow. Normal health conditions are required. Refreshments enroute. An environmental friendly way to enjoy the arctic wilderness.

SNOW MOBILE SAFARI - Catch the Arctic wind with us!

You meet your snowmobile guide at the hotel reception in Kirkenes. After a short drive to the snowmobile resort, 15 minutes. Arrive and you will receive all the protective clothing needed during this trip. You will also be given a lesson on how to handle the snowmobile before you start. This tour takes you to the beautiful winter wilderness. Rates based on 2 persons sharing one snowmobile (one drive – one passenger), supplement for own snowmobile on request. You must hold a driver licence, be able to drive a snowmobile and be over 18 years old.

ICE FISHING WITH THE EXPERT

Next to Kirkenes Snowhotel you have a chance to try your luck with the ice fishing. Small picnic lunch included.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING SCHOOL

With our guide you will learn the secrets of cross country skiing. Tracks are well prepared, and you will find a new way of experience this winter sport.

ARCTIC KING CRAB CATCH – King Crab Safari

KING CRAB SAFARI & LUNCH IN A LOCAL FISHEMANS HOME: A fisherman takes you to his home from where the “fishing trip” to the fjord starts. You will be provided with warm clothing; overalls, winter boots, mittens. Also since you are a passenger in a sledge pulled by the fisherman’ snowmobile, you will get a helmet. During the tour everyone will take part in sawing the hole in the ice! The big catch, king crab, will be served for lunch at home of the fisherman. The superb white meat of the legs and claws is particular juicy and has a natural sweet taste. One leg can be big enough to provide a grown man with a filling meal.
The presentation in simple, but the taste is in a league of its own when it comes to seafood! Ordinary crab will never be the same after you have tasted King Crab, or Kamchatka crab as it is also known as. A unique possibility to visit a local Norwegian home! (Please note: Tour is not done by divers or by boat)
